I started in the medical field as an EMT around 1990, where I worked for several years on an ambulance crew. While working on the ambulance I witnessed many situations where people called when in a time of need. One of the things I realized was that when someone needed CPR very few bystanders knew how to perform CPR or they could not remember how to perform it.

I first became licensed to teach CPR in 1999, while working for a local hospital. My job consisted of many different community wellness activities but most importantly teaching CPR. While teaching people CPR I relay my past experiences and explain that performing CPR is not that difficult, is not scary and that most people can do it. I also explain that I will work with them until they are proficient and confident that they would be able to perform CPR. I have been teaching CPR for over fifteen years now, and still enjoy every class.

For several years I worked as a firefighter and as an EMT, I enjoyed the work however some of my experiences were very difficult to witness. One thing I frequently noticed that often when someone is in need of care they freeze up or make irrational decisions.

My interest in teaching CPR started many years ago when I would tag along with my mother on her instruction classes. Her passion for teaching CPR was quite evident and quickly rubbed off on all the students and myself. So two years ago I also became an instructor so that I could teach with the same enthusiasm.

My passion for teaching CPR and First Aid also comes from my previously mentioned experiences. By teaching CPR and what to do and when to do it, students are less likely to freeze up or make decisions that might otherwise might not be helpful to the wellbeing of the patient.
